After 20 hours of labor, including three hours of pushing, Ryan Cooper George finally gave up the fight and came out of his man cave (I'm convinced he had HD TV in there and was trying to watch the NFL playoffs).
Kathleen was amazing. It was a difficult, emotional labor. At the end, there were four doctors and three nurses all trying to help get that baby out. And the SECOND Ryan was out, she was all smiles, as if the previous three hours had never happened. She's truly an amazing woman.
Ryan is beautiful. He weighs 7 pounds, 13 ounces and has a full head of black hair (his Dad used to be able to make such a claim). His initial checkups were excellent.
As I write this, Kathleen and Ryan are working on nursing. We've had just a couple of hours of sleep in the past 24 hours. We're going to try and get some rest and will write more over the next couple of days.

Congratulations! As a mom of 3, with no more to come in the future, I have truly enjoyed reading your accounts of pregnancy and birth because I have forgotten so much of what it's like. So thank you and good luck taking your first steps as parents!
He is so cute! Great job, Kathleen. I love the name, too! I am glad you used Cooper.
Only a real George would require two epidurals, be late to his own party, and cause such happiness upon arrival. I'm thankful that he didn't arrive on Tuesday. Ryan Cooper Barak Hussein George would have been a little much.
