Lesson: Don't challenge your mother

Mom delivered.

She sent one of her special Mom Surprise Boxes last week that contained an odd collection of: items from my childhood, and things she found either in the garage, a drawer, or the back of a closet. Maybe not even one of her closets. (Kidding, Mom. I kid because I love. And anyway, Elizabeth started it.)

Anyway, I promised that I would post some pictures of me as a baby (I'm not as cute as Hunter was, but I've since made up for it) and one from the height of my awkwardness, which in my case was fourth grade. Here goes.

Clearly we know a lot more about SIDS now. Look at that fluffy quilt! Holy moly. On the other hand, I seemed to be in less danger than Hunter was of falling out of my crib:

Look at my parents. They were SO CUTE:

That's my mother's Ford Pinto in the background, and inside are J.P. and Gigi, the poodles that tolerated me and threw in the towel when Elizabeth arrived. (They were delicate souls. AKA, high-maintenance. Makes me wonder how Buddy will fare.)

A few years after this was taken, I remember Dad coming home from his late shift at the phone company with take-out tacos and letting me have some even though I was supposed to be in bed. We ate on that green vinyl couch. I remember feeling very special and like I was getting away with something.

And finally, here's the slightly grown out beauty school perm and my first pair of glasses. Thank goodness my cousin Brian was cute.

LOVE THEM! It's like the minute you grew hair it HAD to be permed...some of my earliest memories of you are accompanied with the smell of home perm kits. I can not wait to see you guys...the laughs we will have....
