Life imitating art, or being forced to anyway

The LG commissioned a piece for the nursery from a talented, undiscovered artist in Birmingham, Alabama. Undiscovered by MoMA, anyway. We all know she's fabulous.

This artist truly loves her work. But more than that, she wanted to please the LG, since we all know this baby is a bit of a prima donna. After all, the LG's nursery is in two different shades of sage green. Kinda like Shelby in "Steel Magnolias" with the two shades of pink at her wedding. (Blush and Bashful. It could be a Trivial Pursuit question someday.) And like the bride, everyone has to smile and gush at the LG's nursery even if it reminds them, just a little, of guacamole.

But since this artist is a pro, she gave the LG a painting that is so lovely and thoughtful that the LG's mom got a little teary when she saw it - especially the personal detail.

It's Buddy the cat! Or, as the LG's mom calls him, Prop To Demonstrate Scale of Unborn Baby's Laundry Pile.

Then the LG kicked her ribs and reminded her not to get too attached to the painting because it wasn't for her, anyway. The LG then went back to answering e-mail and blogging on its smart phone, only slightly aware that it's starting to get a little cramped in there. Thank goodness a well-appointed nursery awaits.

Great painting!

I can't express enough how much it pleases me that you threw in the Steel Magnolias reference.

It is actually two shades of aloe vera and essence of aloe vera as picked out by LG's design team. How wonderful to have a true artist and a "Mimi" too. Love Gramma "Interior Re-arranger" Cooper
