I dare you not to munch these thighs

The family spent Memorial Day at a neighbor's barbecue, and we had a great time. Maddie isn't in any of these pictures because she was moving too fast to capture on camera, either running or riding her scooter around. She had been gone for awhile, exploring, when the ice cream truck entered the neighborhood by the house where we were gathered, and you could set your watch by the time it took her to come running up the hill.

Ryan took his last nap of the day inside our friend Glenn's house. This was Ryan's first nap away from home. After he woke up, he spent most of the afternoon on a blanket in the shade, holding court. Tonia and her daughter, Hailey, entertained Ryan while Hunter listened to a neighbor kid tell a story that clearly wasn't entertaining Hunter. (I can't remember what it was about now but I had to capture a photo of this rare non-smiling Hunter.)

Ryan, meanwhile, was the center of attention. And he chewed on one of his giraffes most of the time. It's a giraffe made in France – all natural rubber and food-based paint, and it's apparently the latest rage in hipster baby gifts. It squeaks. Basically it looks and sounds like a dog toy, but he can't get enough of it.

The makers call it Sophie. Aunt Julie, we're coming up with a different name.

What a wonderful photo of you and Ryan. Sounds like a fun day for all of you.

Haha....Sophie would be chewing it to pieces so maybe it is an appropriate name.

I would lose that dare....those thighs are delicious looking!

My niece had a Sophie giraffe. She loved that thing!

That boy of yours is adorable, and I do love those chubby baby thighs!

He always looks so indulgent. Thighs are my second favorite baby part. Baby shoulders ate the best!
