I'm using Pacific Northwest standard measurements, so by "ton" I mean 3-4 inches that was topped off with frozen rain, putting a hard icing over fluffy flakes. As I post this, more snow is falling, and it's falling fast.
Because we live at the bottom of two hills, Hunter parked my car at the shopping center just outside our neighborhood. The center is at the top of the hill and at the intersection of two major roads, so by parking there we may actually be able to get to work today. (I am truly dreading the prospect of hauling myself and the 35-week-old LG up one of those hills.)
Here's Hunter, setting out to clean off the car on Sunday and to make sure no one has smacked it because people, we don't know how to drive in this weather. We're rain creatures.

You can see the ice glaze on the pond across from our house. Allegedly there were ducks in there last week. Dumb ducks.

And a plant in our front yard, which I can't identify (my mother, gardener extraordinaire, is shaking her head). But its red berries are just bursting.

This was one of those weekends that you want to last forever. It's cold, quiet and perfect for staying in. What a nice way to start Christmas week!

When you find out what that plant is...let me know! We have a larger tree-like version in our backyard and it is gorgeous with berries right now! Good luck with the hill, but don't strain yourself...you don't want to go into early labor!
Merry Christmas!
Honey, you don't know snow! We've been getting snow here in Wisconsin just about every other day...literally! The snow bank is so high at the end of our driveway that the mailbox is buried and Rob doesn't have anywhere to go with the snow with the next storm (due this week) when he uses the snowblower. Watch for photos os it on the blog this week. And to top it all off, our high is going to be FIVE with a windchill of 20 BELOW. Ick.
The difference, dear sister, is you crazy People of the North are prepared for snow. You expect it. You plan for it. You own a snowblower. I don't even own a shovel. (I had to borrow a neighbor's garden shovel last night.)
