I saw the doctor on Tuesday for the 32-week checkup. At that point I was 32 weeks, three days. All my measurements are good, including my weight and blood pressure. The doctor actually said I'm having a "textbook perfect" pregnancy.
The baby is head-down already, which she said usually doesn't happen until week 36 or so. It also explains the use of my right bottom rib as a monkey bar for the past few weeks. I asked her if it was OK for the baby to have turned so early, and she said it was fine. I took that to mean "brilliant" and said so. It was only later that it occurred to me that perhaps the baby doesn't know he or she is upside down even though the books say the baby's sense of balance should have kicked in already. But I'm not too worried about that. I'm worried about this other, totally irrational thing.
She said I'm measuring at 33 weeks, which was quite a relief given my freakout over the weekend about whether my belly is big enough to have a healthy baby inside. I'm not making this up.
I told my mother that I was worried that I kept getting so many compliments about how great I look, and how I don't look like I'm only eight weeks from full term, and that I am AWARE that it's perverse to worry about such things but that I don't want to give birth to an underweight baby and stunt the LG's development for life. My mom was very assuring, saying every woman is different and that if the doctor says everything is OK, everything is OK, and to remember that even if I don't have a protruding belly, I'm getting wider in the hips so that's a good sign. And I felt much better at the prospect of wider hips.
This is what hormones do to you, people.

Unbelievable that being told wide hips are good can make a woman feel better about her bulging body; much less that it should come from her mother who looked liked a cabover 18-wheeler and very very short! barefoot and preg-net(heavy accent on PREG-net) is the way we texans love our women. love your precious mom
So at 33 to 36 weeks when do we see closer due date: January blank. im already on pins and needles love mom
