Why I have a real doctor

In the middle of last week, I was having some abdominal pain. I've read in the 10,242 baby books at our house that this is to be expected -- it's when the ligaments in your abdomen make room for your uterus as it takes over your body.

Still, the twinges were a little stronger than I imagined they would be, so I took a break from work and Googled "pregnancy abdominal pain."

This is why you never use the Internet to diagnose symptoms. According to Google, I could click on links that described any number of awful possibilities (that included words like "abruption" and "infections"). So after clicking wildly to find SOME site that would calm me down, I came to the March of Dimes site. Yes, the organization that works to prevent birth defects was the least hysterical site out there. BabyCenter.com, while innocuously named, scared me to death.

I closed that browser window and went back to blissful editing about the prospects of peace in the Middle East.

Google's not encouraging on that, either.

Aw, those pains suck! I went through that for a couple of weeks. When it first started I freaked out and went to the doctor - I figured that's what she's there for. Anywho, you're right, they are growing pains and painful they are. But they'll quit after a while. Take care!
