Shopping by myself hardly ever turns out well. Usually there's frustration, sweating, cursing and ultimately tears, usually on the phone with Hunter or Elizabeth, who both assure me that obviously all the clothes in the world stink.
But then, there was Stephanie.

Stephanie parked me in a dressing room at Mimi Maternity for an hour while she brought me almost everything in the store. She also brought me ice water, and told me which pants looked good and which ones to ditch. (She advised me to keep the less expensive ones, so I felt good about the recommendation.)
After an hour, I looked around the store and found some things myself. It was still frustrating because even these clothes aren't really made to fit my body. But there were no tears, and it's because of Stephanie. I brought home these things:

And the best buy EVER:

That's right. That's a lined trench coat for the winter, darlings, and it was $20. That alone is worth tears of joy, because maternity clothing makers know they have you over a barrel and will charge you $80 for socks. And clearly, maternity socks are not necessary.
The day wasn't all shopping. (Which I know is fun for some, but not for me.) Here are the best parts: new pink toenails, chocolate ice cream in the sun, and Master Brennan, who took a little snooze after I arrived. A great day, no doubt.
