Slow down to 90!

Ten days ago, Ryan crawled. In 10 days we've gone from this...

... to this:

Yes. Pulling up and standing. In 10 days. This is how we find him in his crib every time he wakes up. And before he goes to sleep, he spends 10-15 minutes in silence, tiptoe-ing around. Over the monitor, we can hear the crib rattle as he pulls himself up and surveys his kingdom. A few times, we've peeked in to see him gingerly making his way from the front of the crib to the back, holding onto the rail.

He seems to have a touch of impatience with the whole milestone thing. Not sure where that comes from. But he already is showing signs of the double-dose of talkative.

In Hunter's day, his report cards said, "Hunter adds to class." Hunter's parents had weekly meetings with his teachers about his outstanding communication skills. His first grade teacher - a nun - actually smacked him for talking too much.

(Let's pause here to imagine what would happen to a teacher who smacked the LG. Can I blog from jail?)

In my day, it was names on the chalkboard. The name was for the first offense, and usually that was embarrassing enough to shut up already. For those who couldn't contain themselves, there were check-marks placed after the name. In first grade, I had a day when I had four checks. FOUR.

Ryan is shaping up to be a multiple check-mark kid.
