The tryptophan kept me from blogging

We spent a lovely Thanksgiving afternoon with our neighbors Mike and Renee, and their daughters Emma and Sutton The Drama Queen.

Mike deep-fried two turkeys, and Renee made sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, and gra-a-a-avy. I brought the dressing in the slow-cooker, which went really well with the gravy. I haven't posted anything since then because I just woke up.

We ate the meal at their home, then dodged raindrops back across the street where we hosted dessert: Pumpkin pie and home-made chocolate chip cookies. And yes, that means the pumpkin pie was not home-made. Thank you, Costco!

Earlier that afternoon, Hunter and Ryan made sure the house was presentable:

Since it's traditional to put up the tree after Thanksgiving, we didn't do it.

And since Ryan is almost 11 months old and planning to walk any minute, we decided against a tree this year. The child pulls on everything and eats everything and I just don't need the stress of fake tree needles in his poop.

So we are stringing lights everywhere, and decorating as much as we can sans tree. Ryan and Hunter put up the window lights yesterday:

Busy weekends wear Ryan out. He's especially tired after church, which happens during his typical morning naptime. So by the end of Sunday lunch, holding up his head becomes close to impossible.

(That's how I looked on Thanksgiving.)

Sounds like a lovely Thanksgiving. He is just getting so big! I can't believe he is walking. Yeah, Ryan!
