Catching up

It's been a busy few weeks here, and Ryan is maturing so fast that maybe he'll leave for college next week and I can get some sleep.

He's talking more and more. He's coo-ing, goo-ing, shrieking and squealing. And in the mornings, he often yells at the top of his voice just to hear the sound. Lately we've heard him, in the middle of naps, cooing softly to himself over and over. It sounds like he's singing a little song, and it makes our Grinchy hearts grow three sizes.

Ryan also is figuring out that his hands belong to him and are under his control, and he's reaching for things and occasionally making contact, sometimes with his face.

He spends time on his tummy in the regular way, too. Aunt Elizabeth gave him some encouragement during her recent visit. (I was thinking I'd do a post on that, but suffice it to say there was much drinking, laughing, cursing and butt-kicking in board games each night.)

On the agenda this week: Getting his three-month pictures taken before it's impossible to tell the difference between him and his father.

He looks like a producer in the hat and sunglasses picture and part of a secret brotherhood in the last! Love the chatty video.
